If you ask five agencies in Singapore what a website costs, you will get five answers between S$500 and S$50,000. That range is not a trick. It reflects very different products sold under the same word.

This guide breaks down what you actually get at each price point, what you will pay every year after launch, and the questions that stop you from overpaying.

The short answer

For a small independent business (a shop, restaurant, salon, studio or clinic), expect to pay:

What you need Typical Singapore price What it usually means
A one-page site that looks professional S$500 to S$3,000 Template design, your details, a contact or booking button
A proper business site, 4 to 8 pages S$1,500 to S$8,000 Services, about, location, gallery, basic SEO
An online shop S$2,500 to S$15,000 Product pages, payments, delivery settings
A larger growth site for an established SME S$10,000 to S$25,000 Custom design, content strategy, integrations
Custom or enterprise builds S$25,000 to S$50,000+ Bespoke features, multiple systems, long timelines

Large agencies quote toward the top of each band. Freelancers and small studios quote toward the bottom. The difference is mostly in how much custom design, writing and project management you are paying for.

What actually drives the price

1. Template or custom design. Starting from a well-made template and adapting it to your brand is fast and affordable. Designing every page from a blank canvas takes weeks and costs several times more. For most independent businesses, a good template, properly adapted, is the right call.

2. Number of pages. Each page needs layout, copy, photos and testing. A one-page site and an eight-page site are different jobs.

3. Who writes the words. Copywriting is the most underestimated cost. If you supply the text, the price drops. If the studio writes it, expect to pay for that time, and it is usually worth it, because the words decide whether Google and customers understand what you do.

4. Selling online. Taking payments means product pages, a checkout, delivery or pickup rules and testing every step. That is why online shops start higher.

5. Bookings and integrations. Table reservations, class timetables, appointment booking, WhatsApp buttons and newsletter sign-ups each add setup time.

6. SEO set-up. A site that loads fast, has proper page titles, a sitemap and a Google Business Profile will be found. A site without them often will not, however good it looks.

The costs after launch

The build is not the only cost. Budget for these every year:

  • Domain name: around S$15 to S$40 a year.
  • Hosting: from free (for simple static sites) to S$300 to S$800 a year for premium hosting.
  • Platform fees: Wix, Squarespace and Shopify charge monthly plans, usually S$20 to S$80 a month for small businesses, more for advanced plans.
  • Maintenance and updates: S$500 to S$1,500 a year if someone else keeps it secure and up to date.

Many Singapore businesses end up spending S$600 to S$2,500 a year just to keep a professional site running.

Can a grant pay for it?

Possibly. The Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG) has co-funded up to 50% of eligible digital solutions, but only when you buy a pre-approved solution from a pre-approved vendor listed on the GoBusiness portal, and only if you apply before paying anything. Budget 2026 also announced that PSG will be folded into a new scheme called EDGE. Check the GoBusiness portal for what is currently covered before you sign anything, and never pay a deposit before your application is in.

How to avoid overpaying

Ask every studio these five questions before you sign:

  1. Is the design a template or custom? Either can be fine, but you should know which you are paying for.
  2. Who writes the copy, and is it included?
  3. Who owns the site and the domain when we finish? It should be you.
  4. What will I pay every year after launch? Get the full number: hosting, platform, maintenance.
  5. Can I see sites you built that are live today? Click through them on your phone.
